MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441021712 A) filed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on March 21, 2024, for 'catalyst composition for gasoline sulfur reduction and process for preparing thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Loganathan, Kumaresan; Kukade, Somanath; Sharma, Poonam; Basuvaraj, Suresh Kumar; Kumari, Sanju; Kumar, Pramod; Sundararaman, Sriram; and Maheshwari, Vipul Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a catalyst additive composition for reducing sulfur in gasoline. The catalyst additive composition comprises 10-50 wt. % of silica, 40-80 wt. % of alumina, 1-20 wt.% of copper oxide, 1-20 wt.% of cerium oxide, and 0.1-5 wt.% of zinc oxide. The present invention also provides a process for preparing the catalyst additive composition. The catalyst additive composition comprises Ce-Zn alloyed Cu with oxygen vacancy for sulfur removal and is developed by using mixed metal oxide system. The catalyst additive composition shows higher sulfur reduction and olefine retention compared to conventional technology."
