MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541084972 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Sept. 8, 2025, for 'carbonized polydopamine engineered max phase composites for electrochemical applications.'

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a composite electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) and Supercapacitor applications in a neutral electrolyte comprising a) a Titanium-based MAX phase compound as matrix material; and b) a carbonized polydopamine, wherein the carbonized polydopamine is integrated with the Titanium-based MAX phase, wherein a ratio of the carbonized polydopamine and the Titanium-based MAX phase compound is in the range of 1:1 to 1:3. The disclosure also relates to the method of preparing a composite electrocatalyst."
