MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104048 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'caliper-based apparatus for determination of volume and surface area of irregular three-dimensional objects.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Prem Kumar Srivastava; and Gaurav Yadav.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a caliper-based apparatus (100) for determination of volume and surface area of irregular three-dimensional objects, comprising a support housing (102) configured to provide structural retention and positional reference for measurement operations, a pair of adjustable arms (104) supported on said support housing (102) and configured to undergo displacement for engaging said irregular three-dimensional objects, a displacement chamber (106) enclosed within said support housing (102) and adapted to receive said irregular three-dimensional objects for volumetric determination through liquid displacement, and a calculation unit (108) operatively connected to said displacement chamber (106) and said adjustable arms (104) and configured to derive surface area and volume values from dimensional and displacement data."
