MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517059214 A) filed by Rio Tinto Alcan International Limited, Montreal, on June 20, for 'calcination apparatus and process.'
Inventor(s) include Reid Michael; Savard Veronique; and Tysoe Stephen.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A process for calcining aluminium trihydrate (Al2O3.3H2O) to form alumina (Al2O3) replaces at least a part of a natural gas energy source for generating heat for use in a calciner with an electrical energy source. The process may comprise using at least one electrically heated fluidized bed reactor for calcining aluminium trihydrate."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 22, 2023, under International application No.PCT/IB2023/063167.
