MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003679 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 18, 2024, for 'burl wood table top manufacturing device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A burl wood table top manufacturing device, comprising a housing 1, a chamber 2 to store burl wooden blocks, a touch enabled screen 3 which is accessed by a user to enter dimensions and design of a table top, a telescopically operated gripper 4 grips and positions block on a platform 6 whose dimension is detected by a camera 5 mounted within housing 1, two L-shaped telescopically operated pushers 7 installed on platform 6 for gripping block, a rod 8 suspended in housing 1 by means of a two-axis lead screw arrangement 10 and equipped with a motorized cutter 9 for cutting block, a telescopically operated bar 11 carves a cavity by a blade 12, an electronic nozzle 13 for dispensing epoxy resin within cavity, a hot air blower 16 for drying resin and a robotic arm 17 equipped with grinder 18 for grinding surface of block."
