MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (201721019706 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Bombay, Maharashtra, on June 5, 2017, for 'bullet proof jacket.'
Inventor(s) include Tewari Asim; Thorat Maheshkumar; Naik Nipanjan; and Pathak Poojan.
The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bullet proof jacket (100) comprising a thick sheet 101 is followed by a deflector 102 having a special geometry and a thick sheet (103) of high strength fabric followed by thick sheet 104 of high strength fiber; wherein the sheet 103 and the sheet 104 are inserted between two layer of the deflector 102. The present disclosure uses novel approach to stop the Type IV NIJ armor piercing bullet while keeping the weight less as compared to existing bullet proof jackets."
