MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511006868 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on Jan. 28, 2025, for 'brillouin pump shaping for flat response scalable photonic filter and method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Choudhary, Amol; Afroz, Md Kamran; and Jachpure, Deeksha.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Photonic filtering system (103) and method (700) for generating flat-top band-pass filtered response are disclosed. System (103) includes laser assembly (102) to generate probe and pump signals at first and second frequency, respectively. System (103) includes arbitrary waveform generator (104) to generate electrical waveform with weighted amplitude corresponding to digital representation of required waveform. System (103) includes modulator (106) to modulate pump signal based on electrical waveform to obtain single side band suppressed carrier (SSB-SC) signal. System (103) includes amplifier (108) to amplify the SSB-SC signal to a power level to induce Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS). System (103) includes optical fiber (110) to receive amplified SSB-SC signal counter-propagating with probe signal. Amplified SSB-SC signal acts as pump signal to induce SBS gain within optical fiber. Optical fiber (110) obtains the flat-top band-pass filtered response based on SBS gain at corresponding frequency, when probe signal interacts with induced SBS gain."
