MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049395 A) filed by J. J. College Of Engineering And Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, on April 17, for 'bookmark with timer and alarm to promote reading.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A controller, light sensor, and sound or light alarm are all included in Bookmark with Integrated Reading Timer & Alarm. The bookmark's exposure to a minimum amount of light is detected by the light sensor. A timer resets when it detects light, and it counts a user-specified initial time period when it detects insufficient light. The controller sounds an alarm to remind the user to continue reading if they don't pick up where they left off after the mandatory second time."
