MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202444096617 A) filed by Mudr. Michal Virag, Mala Ida, Slovakia, on Dec. 6, 2024, for 'book with backlit pages.'

Inventor(s) include Mudr. Michal Virag.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to books with backlit pages, particularly children's picture books. The invention provides an innovative solution for backlighting pages using either side-emitting optical fibers or LED light chains integrated into the book's structure. Each page comprises shielding light-impermeable films with cut-outs and light-permeable print layers containing content graphics, enabling uniform illumination of text and illustrations. The system overcomes prior art limitations by allowing complex planar backlighting effects and eliminating the need for precise placement of light sources on individual pages. This design ensures readability in dark environments and enables advanced lighting features such as dimmability, color changes, and selective illumination of graphics, enhancing the appeal and functionality of books."
