MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113775 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'boat control system using dynamic airbag-based wave actuation and 4d movement mechanisms.'
Inventor(s) include Pankaj Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an automated boat control system featuring a motorized airbag mechanism housed within an octagonal frame to enable intelligent and adaptive navigation. The system incorporates a motorized string bag that expands and compresses through motor actuation to displace air and generate wave-like movement for steering, propulsion, and stabilization. A central control unit with AI-based analysis and real-time feedback regulates airbag inflation based on sea conditions detected by pressure and gyroscopic sensors. The airbag comprises multiple independent chambers for localized wave control, allowing 4D movement with dynamic shape modulation. An integrated energy management module optimizes power distribution, while adaptive learning algorithms adjust operation based on historical sea data. The system automatically deflates during high-wind conditions to enhance stability. This propeller-free design provides smooth, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsive control suitable for autonomous boats and sustainable marine transportation."
