MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012849 A) filed by Bennett University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'blockchain-enabled circular economy models for waste management.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Madhushi Verma; and Dr. Aditya Bhardwaj.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention proposes a blockchain-enabled system to manage a circular economy model in waste management. The system includes a waste tracking module, a validation module, and a reward module. The waste tracking module records waste from generation to disposal. The validation module, using smart contracts, validates and records waste handling processes. The reward module provides rewards, in the form of digital currency or tokens, for proper waste handling. The system may also include a data analytics module to analyze data, a marketplace module to facilitate exchange of recycled goods, and an interface module to provide user access to information. This system can enhance the transparency, efficiency, and incentive mechanism of waste management, driving toward a more sustainable circular economy."
