MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441076689 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Oct. 9, 2024, for 'blockage extraction assistive device for sewer pipes.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A blockage extraction assistive device for sewer pipes, comprising an elongated body 1 having proximal end 2 and distal end 3, handle 4 gripped by a user to position the distal end 3 within a sewer pipe from which blockage is to be removed, artificial intelligence based imaging unit 5 for capturing images of inner periphery of the sewer pipe to determine location of the blockage in the pipe, hydraulic link for positioning a motorized gripper 7 to grip the blockage, motorized plunger 8 provide a pulling and pushing force to the gripper 7 for withdrawing the blockage from the pipe, motorized hinge joints 9 to regulate shape of the body 1 as per sewer pipe and motorized ball and socket joint 10 provide rotation to the gripper 7 in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction to assist the gripper 7 in loosening grip of the blockage from the pipe."
