MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517093944 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Sept. 30, for 'blast furnace operation method, and ancillary equipment.'

Inventor(s) include Uchida, Seiji; Harada, Hiroki; Sawaki, Naomi; and Kashihara, Yusuke.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A blast furnace operation method according to the present invention is a method for operating a blast furnace in which oxygen gas and a reducing agent containing methane gas are blown into the interior of the blast furnace from a tuyere of the blast furnace, wherein when the oxygen concentration in the oxygen gas is 80 vol% or greater, a preheating gas is blown into the interior of the blast furnace from a gas blowing part that is provided above the tuyere of the blast furnace, said preheating gas having a carried-in heat quantity that is greater than or equal to a prescribed heat quantity which is set in accordance with the blowing quantity of the methane gas."
