MUMBAI, India, April 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311071113 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Oct. 18, 2023, for 'blade sharpening device.'

Inventor(s) include Ripendeep Singh.

The application for the patent was published on April 25, under issue no. 17/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A blade sharpening device, comprising a platform 1 arranged with plurality of motorized wheels 2 developed to be position over a ground surface, a slot 3 configured with a telescopic rod 4 arranged over the platform 1 for allowing a user to position a blade within the slot 3, a laser measurement sensor 5 mapped on the slot 3 for detecting dimension of the blade, a sharpening arrangement 7 configured with a U-shaped clamp 8 arranged on the platform 1, a capacitive sensor 10 mapped on the clamp 8 to detect sharpness of the blade, a motorized ball and socket joint 11 is arranged in between the slot 3 and telescopic rod 4 for providing movement to the slot 3 and a chamber 12 configured with an electronic nozzle 13 arranged on the platform 1 to dispense water over the sharpening arrangement 7 while sharpening the blade."
