MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064382 A) filed by Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute Of Technology, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on May 21, for 'biosorbent briquette based filtration system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a filtration system (100) for the efficient removal of heavy metals, including Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), and Nickel (Ni) from contaminated water. The system (100) comprises a plurality of biosorbent briquettes (200) housed within a supporting framework (300), preferably constructed from biodegradable bamboo. Each briquette (200) is formed from a composite mixture of eggshell powder, banana peel powder, orange peel powder, and algal biomass, including Chlorella sorokiniana and Dictyosphaerium sp., optionally combined with a natural binder and water to form a mouldable composition, followed by shaping and drying."
