MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421038121 A) filed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Maharashtra, on May 15, 2024, for 'bioprocessing of pine needle to obtain multiple value-added products.'

Inventor(s) include Sahoo, Prakash Chandra; Kumar, Manoj; Singh, Dheer; Gupta, Ravi Prakash; Srivastva, Umish; and Pant, Ashutosh.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel bioprocessing method designed to extract various value-added products from pine needles. Through the integration of anaerobic treatment along with a biostimulator, the present invention produces an antimicrobial liquid for agricultural applications and a solid residue that serves as an effective plant growth promoter. Moreover, the resulting bio-composite derived from the solid pine needle residue demonstrates potential uses as green coagulants and media for anaerobic biofilter. Furthermore, the bioprocessing process boasts the generation of biogas as a byproduct, thus providing a sustainable source of renewable energy."
