MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531133431 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'bioadhesive tissue hydrogel composition and method of fabrication thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Gupta, Mr. Rivesh; Al; and Verma, Dr. Devendra.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments herein discloses a method for preparing a fast-gelling bioadhesive hydrogel for tissue repair, wound closure, tissue sealing, tissue void filling, hemostasis, and post-surgical repair. The method comprises mixing a first pre-solution containing an amine-based polymer with a second pre-solution comprising tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium chloride (THPC), dopamine, and one or more transition metal ions. Mixing of the solutions induces rapid in situ gelation through dual crosslinking and metal-ion-assisted redox reactions, forming a bioadhesive hydrogel with reduced cytotoxicity and strong tissue adhesion."
