MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002026 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'bio-pellet formulation method for weed extracts.'
Inventor(s) include Adesh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method (100) for producing a bio-pellet system formulated using standardized extracts of Chenopodium album, Ageratum conyzoides, Parthenium hysterophorus, and Cynodon dactylon for suppressing Phomopsis vexans. The method includes combining the weed extracts with natural polymeric binders such as sodium alginate, guar gum, starch paste, tamarind seed gum, or molasses, forming pellets of controlled geometries between 3 mm and 10 mm, and incorporating calcium ions for structural cross-linking. The pellets provide sustained release, exhibit hardness of 3.1-5.3 kg/cm, show water absorption of 24-35%, and biodegrade in 40-81 days. Optional microbial ferment filtrates and hydrophobic coatings enhance antifungal activity and shelf-life, enabling application across soil, water, seed surfaces, and growth media."
