MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020516 A) filed by Bennett University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'bio inspired neural networks for image recognition in iot devices.'
Inventor(s) include Prof. Ajith Abraham; and Prof. Sanjeev Ratna Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure introduces a sophisticated image recognition system tailored for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, harnessing the principles of biological neural networks. The system is built around a high-precision sensor module, adept at capturing intricate image data. At the heart of the system lies a bio-inspired neural network processor, embedded within the IoT device, and operationally connected to the sensor module. The processor is engineered to perform complex analysis of the captured image data, emulating the functionality of biological synapses. Complementing the processor is a synaptic weight storage unit, which is dedicated to preserving the learned synaptic weights, thus enabling the system to learn and adapt over time. An inference engine, intricately linked to the neural network processor, is responsible for deciphering the analyzed image data, culminating in accurate recognition results. To complete the system, a communication module is integrated, facilitating the seamless transmission of said recognition results to an external network for further action or analysis. The system represents a significant leap forward in the realm of IoT devices, providing them with unparalleled image recognition capabilities reminiscent of biological intelligence."
