MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621027703 A) filed by Lakshmi Narain College Of Technology, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on March 9, for 'bio-composite for doors and method for manufacturing thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Lisha Kurup; Dr. Anjali Tiwari; and Dr. Sangeeta Dhote.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bio-composite for doors comprising sterilized medical waste, treated water hyacinth, bio-resin matrix, rice husk and orange peel, wherein the composite exhibits high mechanical strength, moisture resistance, and reduced carbon footprint compared to hardwood or PVC, and a method for manufacturing of door, comprising the steps of segregating and sterilizing medical waste, pulverizing and blending the sterilized medical waste with treated water hyacinth fibers, rice husk, and orange peel, combining the blend with a bio-resin matrix to form a composite, pressing and cutting the composite into door panels and laminating the panels and integrating electronic components within a housing."
