MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621024101 A) filed by Ve Commercial Vehicles Ltd., Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, on Feb. 28, for 'bimetallic brake drum for a commercial vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Piyush Khanduja; Mr. Adarsh Solanki; Mr. Pranaya Kumar Sahoo; and Mr. Rahul Gohil.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bimetallic brake drum (100) for a commercial vehicle is disclosed. Further, the bimetallic brake drum (100) comprises an outer structural body (102) formed of an aluminum alloy; and an inner annular braking liner (104) formed of cast iron, the cast iron braking liner (104) is concentrically positioned within the aluminum alloy structural body (102) and is metallurgically and mechanically secured thereto, the cast iron braking liner (104) defines a braking surface configured to engage with brake shoes, the aluminum alloy structural body (102) provides structural support and enhanced thermal dissipation, and the cast iron braking liner (104) comprises an interlocking surface profile configured to prevent relative radial or axial displacement between the cast iron braking liner (104) and the aluminum alloy structural body (102) during braking operation."
