MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521039114 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on April 23, 2025, for 'bidirectional dc-dc power conversion unit for energy storage system.'
Inventor(s) include Kaibalya Prasad Panda; Jinisha Singhal; and Vedant Patel.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The presented invention describes a novel Bidirectional DC-DC power conversion unit (BDDC-PCU) for Energy Storage System (ESS) which consist of switched inductor capacitor topology. The BDDC-PCU consist of two inductor, five MOSFET switches and three capacitors which allow bidirectional flow of current efficiently. The BDDC-PCU allows smooth bidirectional power transfer supporting boost operation and buck operation with high voltage conversion ratio. The BDDC-PCU has a common-ground connection and additionally it lowers input current ripple considerably and carefully restricts voltage stress across the switches. The BDDC-PCU can provide voltage gain of 8.75 in boost mode and 0.225 in case of buck operation mode with the duty cycle of 0.6. The claimed conversion unit allows two-way power flow using minimum number of components and has low power loss during its operation."
