MUMBAI, India, April 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311071111 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Oct. 18, 2023, for 'bicycle wheel maintenance device.'

Inventor(s) include Harjot Singh Gill.

The application for the patent was published on April 25, under issue no. 17/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bicycle wheel maintenance device comprises of a platform 1 configured with multiple rods provides support to platform 1, a motorized omnidirectional wheel 2 attached with rods moves platform 1, a pair of motorized clamp 3 assembled on platform 1 via a pair of triangular members 4 grips a lug nut of bicycle's wheel, a weight sensor mapped on clamp 3 detects nut over clamp 3, a motorized roller 5 mapped on platform 1 rotates on axis, a robotic link 6 configured with a digital plunger dial 7 mapped on platform 1 detects wheel's 2 alignment, a pair of telescopically operated L-shaped pins 8 mapped on platform 1 presses rim, an ultrasonic sensor assembled on members 4 detects alignment of spokes within wheel 2 and an electronic nozzle coupled with a paint reservoir 9 assembled on platform 1 dispenses paint on spoke with incorrect alignment."
