MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026051 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'bent tree straightening device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bent tree straightening device, comprising a pair of vertical extendable platforms 1 positioned on a ground surface at a first and second side of a bent tree, a computing unit accessed by a user to give input commands for straightening tree, plurality of pneumatic pins 2 penetrate ground surface for securing platforms 1, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 detects exact location of bent in bark of tree to extend/retract via a drawer arrangement, a plate 4 installed with each of platforms 1 via a hydraulic rod 5, a pair of motorized sliders 6 positions rods 5 in proximity to suitable area over bark, and followed by actuation of rods 5 to extend/retract for applying an optimum pressure on bark via plates 4 for straightening bark."
