MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517092724 A) filed by Autoliv Development AB, Vargarda, Sweden, on Sept. 26, for 'belt retractor for a seatbelt device of a motor vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Wittenberg, Geert; and Krambeer, Sven.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a belt retractor (1) for a seatbelt device of a motor vehicle, having a rotatably mounted belt reel (5), on which a seatbelt of the seatbelt device can be wound up, and a reversible belt tensioner (3) with a drive wheel (20) which, when activated, drives the belt reel (5) in the winding-up direction via the drive wheel (20), and a forcibly controlled tensioner coupling (2) transmitting the driving movement from the drive wheel (20) to the belt reel (5), with at least one coupling pawl (21) which is mounted on the drive wheel (20) and which, in order to create and remove a rotational connection of the drive wheel (20), is movable into engagement and out of engagement with a toothing system (231) fixed on the belt reel, wherein the coupling pawl (21) has a main body (212) with a toothing system portion (213), and the coupling pawl (21) has, in the region of the toothing system portion (213) perpendicular to the direction of the engagement movement, a greater width than in the region of the main body (212)."
