MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517008126 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Jan. 31, for 'battery system management device and method, for determining optimal number of batteries.'

Inventor(s) include Mun, Byeongho; Jeong, Suyeup; and Choi, Jinyoung.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A battery system management device, according to one embodiment of the present invention, may comprise: at least one processor; and a memory for storing one or more instructions executed through the at least one processor. Here, the one or more instructions may include instructions for: defining an equivalent model for a battery system, comprising a plurality of batteries and at least one protection element and being formed into a predefined connection structure; by using the equivalent model, calculating a short-circuit current generated in the battery system when a short-circuit occurs at a specific position in the battery system; comparing the calculated short-circuit current with a limiting current of the protection element; and, on the basis of the comparison result, determining the number of batteries being provided in the battery system."
