MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086064 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'battery management system and mehtod thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Kaliraj Kurupackiam; and Swapan Kumar Mandal.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A battery management system for controlling an operating state of a battery pack in a vehicle, and a method thereof comprises a battery pack (102) connected to an electric system of the vehicle through a contactor (106), a relay switch (108) for switching the contactor (106) between a closed position and an open position, a battery management unit (104) connected to the battery pack (102) for switching the operating state of the battery pack (102) based on switching of the contactor (106) between the closed position and the open position by the relay switch (108). The battery management system (100) also includes an authentication unit (112) configured to authenticate switching of the contactor (106) from the open position to the closed position based on an input received from a user of the vehicle."
