MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517081505 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Aug. 28, for 'battery disconnection unit including fire-extinguishing liquid and secondary battery comprising same.'

Inventor(s) include Hwang, Sung Tack.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a battery disconnection unit which may be disposed within, for example, a battery pack. The battery disconnection unit prevents a fire occurring in the battery pack from spreading or retards the fire to maintain the performance thereof, and has improved stability. The battery disconnection unit according to the present invention may comprise: a housing designed to be able to accommodate electric/electronic components therein; and an inner space formed in the housing to be able to hold fire-extinguishing liquid, wherein the battery disconnection unit is provided to prevent the fire-extinguishing liquid held in the inner space from being discharged to the outside below a predetermined temperature and discharge the fire-extinguishing liquid to the outside at the predetermined temperature or higher."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 05, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/002817.
