MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517031175 A) filed by Ningde Amperex Technology Limited, Fujian, China, on March 29, for 'battery cell, secondary battery and electric device.'

Inventor(s) include Li, Yuanzhou.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present application relates to the technical field of batteries. Provided are a battery cell, a secondary battery and an electric device. The battery cell comprises an electrode assembly, the electrode assembly comprising first separators, second separators, and a plurality of pole pieces, which are arranged in a stacked manner. The plurality of pole pieces comprise two outer-side pole pieces, which are located at two ends, and a plurality of inner-side pole pieces, which are located between the two outer-side pole pieces. Each first separator is arranged between an outer-side pole piece and an inner-side pole piece adjacent thereto, and each second separator is arranged between two adjacent inner-side pole pieces, wherein the thickness of the first separator is greater than the thickness of the second separator. The thickness of a separator which is located at an end part of an electrode assembly is increased compared with the thickness of a separator which is located in the middle region of the electrode assembly, such that the first separator has high strength and cannot be easily punctured, thereby reducing the risk of short-circuiting of a battery cell, and thus improving the safety performance of the battery cell. The first separator is relatively thick, which can also improve the passing rate of battery cells in a high-voltage withstanding test and a collision test, and reduce the defective rate of the battery cells and improve the reliability of the battery cells."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 13, 2023, under International application No.PCT/CN2023/131332.
