MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641022373 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 25, for 'bamboo-ceramic diabetic slipper.'

The invention includes a soft, flexibly sole made tlom a homogenous mixture of bamboo charcoal powder and ceramic powder within a polymeric cushioning matrix. The composite sole is designed to provide uniform softness shock absorption, and pressure redistribution whether standing or walking. Bamboo charcoal aids in moisture absorption, odor management, and breathability, while the ceramic component emits far-infrared radiation when wam1ed by body heat. improving plantar microcirculation and tissue metabolism. The slipper runs passively, without the usage of electrical power or electronic components, making it suitable for extended everyday use. The sole's unifonn structure removes stiff inclusions and reduces localized pressure points, lowering the risk of skin irritation or ulcer fom1ation. The invention can be utilized as everyday indoor or outdoor footwear, and it is appropriate for clinical, home-based, and preventive foot-care applications. The design provides a simple, affordable, and sanitary alternative for long-term therapeutic foot support."
