MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050906 A) filed by Chitkara University, Mohali, Punjab, on April 2, for 'autonomous water harvesting and irrigation system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Manvinder Sharma; Dr. Satyajit Anand; Dr. Rajneesh Talwar; and Dr. Yugnanda Puri.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An autonomous water harvesting and irrigation system, comprising multiple of fence posts 101 and, each post 101 having a black anodised aluminium housing 102, an atmospheric water harvesting to harvest moisture from ambient air using a two-stage collection approach, a solar power unit to providing power to electronic components of the system, a central water reservoir 209 connected to adjacent posts 101 via an inter-post conduit network 104, the reservoir 209 comprising a submersible pump 212 to draw water from the reservoir 209 and distribute it through the conduit network 104, a UV sterilisation lamp 213 to inhibit microbial growth and a sensing unit for monitoring stored volume and water quality, the conduit network 104 to transport harvested water to the reservoir 209 and distribute irrigation water through drip emitters 214, a soil monitoring unit to monitor soil parameters and a control unit for managing local operations of the system."
