MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521132280 A) filed by Marwadi University, Rajkot, Gujarat, on Dec. 26, 2025, for 'autonomous underwater pipeline inspection and maintenance device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An autonomous underwater pipeline inspection and maintenance device, comprising a rectangular shaped frame 101 mounted on multiple tank treads 102, providing stable mobility and adhesion over pipeline surfaces, an electromagnetic unit 104 and suction unit 105 with a pair of articulated arms 106, securely grip the pipelines, a buoyancy control module 107 regulates the vertical position of the device in water, a propeller 108 enables propulsion and directional maneuvering, a scrapper arrangement 109, featuring a wedge-shaped scrapper 109a mounted on a rack of a rack and pinion assembly 109b via a motorized hinge joint 109c to remove barnacles and other deposits, a hyperbaric welding unit 110 with a pantograph assembly 111 repairing broken pipe sections, an epoxy application arrangement 112 with a C-shaped structure 112a and circular sliding rails 112c allows composite or epoxy wraps 112d to be rolled over pipelines, a Venturi vacuum educator 113 removes sediments and clogs."
