MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541113027 A) filed by The Principal, K. S. R. College Of Engineering, Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'autonomous solar-powered plastic waste collection and sweeping system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an autonomous solar-powered plastic waste collection and sweeping system designed to eliminate manual labour and fossil-fuel dependence in urban waste management. The system integrates solar photovoltaic power, battery storage, microcontroller-based navigation, camera-assisted environmental sensing, ultrasonic obstacle detection, and a motorized sweeping mechanism that collects and stores plastic waste in an onboard chamber. The invention supports sustainability by enabling eco-friendly, autonomous waste removal across public spaces, improving cleanliness while reducing emissions and operational costs."
