MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124417 A) filed by Manav Rachna International Institute Of Research & Studies, Faridabad, Haryana, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'autonomous smart shopping cart.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An autonomous smart shopping cart (100) is disclosed. The cart (100) comprises a scanner unit (102) to scan an identifier of an article, a display unit (104) to display particulars of the scanned article and a microcontroller (106) communicatively connected to the scanner unit (102), and to the display unit (104). The cart (100) is configured to receive the identifier of the article scanned by the scanner unit (102); fetch the particulars of the article corresponding to the received identifier from a database (200); display the fetched particulars of the article onto the display unit (104); initiate a payment sequence, after receipt of a checkout feedback from the user and reset the cart (100) by erasing session data. The cart (100) avoids privacy concerns by not incorporating any visual surveillance, ensuring user trust and regulatory compliance."
