MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541121005 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'autonomous lightning detection and protection system for agricultural safety.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to an autonomous lightning detection and protection system for agricultural safety, it typically includes an electric-field detection sensors (1), a radiofrequency (rf) lightning detectors (2), a central intelligent control unit (3), a directeddischarge emitters (4),an engineered grounding mesh network (5). a solar power system with battery backup (6), a mobile alert transmitter (7), a local alarm module (8), a protective housing and mounting structure (9) and a data logging and communication module (10). This invention prpvides enhanced agricultural safety by autonomously detecting lightning and issuing early warnings while physically redirecting strikes to prevent fatalities, livestock injury, and property damage in remote areas. The applications involve safeguarding farmers, livestock, and infrastructure in open fields, remote farms, and rural communities by providing real-time lightning prediction, instant alerts, and controlled energy dissipation."
