MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521060178 A) filed by Sanidha Panda; Siddesh Sharma; Aayush Patil; Mithil Ega; and Dr. Vinutha T. P., Maharashtra, on June 24, for 'autonomous iot-based railway wagon monitoring and load balancing system and method.'

Inventor(s) include Sanidha Panda; Siddesh Sharma; Aayush Patil; Mithil Ega; and Dr. Vinutha T. P.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an AI-powered IoT-based railway wagon monitoring system designed for real-time weight measurement, crack detection, and automated load balancing. It involves the integration of load sensors (102), ultrasonic sensors (104), a servo-controlled tilting plate (112), an AI module (116) coupled to the load sensors (102), ultrasonic sensor (104), acoustic sensor (106) and thermal sensor (108), wherein the AI module (116) process the load sensor data to identify imbalances exceeding a predefined threshold. The automated tilting plate mechanism, controlled by a servo motor, redistributes weight to maintain balance, further improving railway safety, a GSM-module (120) alert system,a LCD display (122) to continuously monitor weight distribution and detect structural cracks, a cloud-based server (124) and a live tracking website to prevent overloading, underloading, and uneven weight distribution in railway wagons. This invention aims to enhance railway freight efficiency, prevent derailments, reduce penalties, and optimize freight management by providing continuous weight monitoring and predictive maintenance insights."
