MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010397 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'automatic watering device for plants.'

Inventor(s) include Rachna Manchanda; Priyanka Sood; Daljeet Kapoor; Dhiraj Rabha; and Utkarsh Avasthi.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automatic watering device for plants comprises of, a platform 1 arranged with a cylindrical frame 2 developed to be positioned on a ground surface in proximity to a field, a V-shaped cavity 3 installed on the frame 2 to accommodate a pipe, a clamping unit 7 is arranged with the cavity 3 to secure the pipe, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 installed on the platform 1 for generating a 3D (three dimensional) mapping of the surrounding in a user interface, an user interface arranged on a user's computing unit to specify an area that is required to be watered, multiple motorized omnidirectional wheels 5 installed with the platform 1 for providing movement to the platform 1 over an initial portion of the user-specified area, and a moisture sensor installed with the platform 1 for detecting moisture level of the ground surface."
