MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026616 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 30, 2024, for 'automatic sugarcane harvesting device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automatic sugarcane harvesting device, comprising a housing 1 installed with a touch interactive display panel 2 for providing geo-coordinates of a location, planted with sugarcane plants, plurality of motorized wheels 3 maneuver housing 1 to location, an artificial intelligence enabled image capturing module detects an initial point of stem of sugarcane, a motorized rotating wheel 5 integrated with multiple blades 6 laid on peripheral portion of wheel 5 and a hydraulically operated rod 7 positions at proper height to effectively cut out only stem portion of sugarcane plant that is grabbed by a telescopically operated and get accommodated on a platform 9, a motorized sharpened peeler 10 peels off leaves and plurality of nozzles 12 installed with platform 9 to dispense water on peeled off step to clean out dirt/dust accumulated on sugarcane stem."
