MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104181 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'automatic side mirror folding system using ultrasonic sensor.'
Inventor(s) include Akash Gupta; Alif Md Khairul Arshi; and Sumit Kanchan.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an automatic side mirror folding system (100) using an ultrasonic sensor (106) and a microcontroller (108) to detect nearby obstacles and automatically fold side mirrors (114). The system includes a buck converter (104) that steps down vehicle battery (102) voltage to power the microcontroller (108) and ultrasonic sensor (106). When the sensor detects an obstacle within a set distance (e.g., 45.7 cm), the microcontroller activates a motor assembly (112) via a driver (110) to fold the mirror, preventing damage. The system offers safety, convenience, and protection in narrow or crowded spaces."
