MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134127 A) filed by Kit-Kalaignarkarunanidhi Institute Of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'automatic garment-safe side stand assembly for two-wheeled vehicles.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shriram K V; Dr. Vimal S; Ms. Subashri V; and Ms. Sini Raj Pulari.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a garment-safe side stand assembly for two-wheeled vehicles. 5 The system includes a side stand arm ( 1) pivotally mounted by a mounting pivot joint . (2) with a retraction spring (3) returning the stand to raised position. A protective shielding member (4) is linked through a mech~nicallinkage unit (5) and activated by a sliding or hinged shield actuator (6). During stand deployment, the shielding member (4) moves to cover exposed spring and joint surfaces. A stopper element (7) controls 10 travel range of the shield. Fastening elements (8) ensure secure integration. The assembly prevents garment snagging without affecting vehicle performance."
