MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311083995 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 8, 2023, for 'automatic coconut de-husking device.'

Inventor(s) include Meenakshi Garg; Rini Saxena; and Sahil Verma.

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automatic coconut de-husking device comprising a housing 1 arranged with wheels 2 to move housing 1, a screen 3 for entering command regarding de-husking of coconut, a hinge joint 4 configured between housing 1 and lid 5 for tilting lid 5 to position coconut within chamber 6, camera 7 for capturing images of housing 1, robotic arms 8 to grip coconut, a rod 9 suspended from lid 5 to position cup 10 on coconut, expandable pulley arrangement configured within suction cup 10 to expand, a platform 11 configured with primary 12 and secondary 13 blades, a guiding rail 14 configured between primary 12 and secondary 13 blades and platform 11 to translate and blades 12,13 with coconut, a hinge 15 configured between secondary 13 blades and guiding rail 14 for making slit within husk to facilitate de-husking of coconut."
