MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050980 A) filed by Delhi Technological University, New Delhi, on April 21, for 'automatic cleaning system for a solar photovoltaic module, and method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Aman, Rahma; Azeem, Abdul; Kumar, Deepak; Kumar, Astitva; and Rizwan, M.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosed automatic cleaning system (100) of at least one solar photovoltaic (SPV) module (103) includes a thermal actuator (102) disposed on a backplate (101) of the SPV module (103). The thermal actuator (102) is configured to actuate upon sensing an increase in temperature of the backplate (101) resulting from absorption of solar radiation. The cleaning system (100) includes a cleaning mechanism (104) operatively coupled to the thermal actuator (102). The cleaning mechanism (104) includes a pair of rails (106), and at least one cleaning pad (108) movably mounted over the pair of rails (106). When the temperature of the backplate (101) exceeds a pre-determined activation threshold of the thermal actuator (102), the thermal actuator (102) contracts along a longitudinal axis, thereby moving the cleaning pad (108) across a surface of the at least one SPV module (103) to remove dust therefrom."
