MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003989 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'automated workpiece refurbishing device.'

Inventor(s) include Ripendeep Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated workpiece refurbishing device, comprises of a housing 1 positioned on a ground surface, a pair of motorized sliding units 3 to push a tray 2 outside housing 1 to allow user to place a workpiece for refurbishing, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 to detect dimension and defect on workpiece, a robotic arm to change position of workpiece, an electronically controlled nozzle 7 connected with a chamber 6 to dispense epoxy resin over the detected surface, a flap 9 configured with a sandpaper 10 to scrub the surface and restore the defected surface, a moisture sensor to detect moisture level of the restored surface, an air blower 13 to blow dry the surface and a motorized roller 11 to unwrap a plastic sheet 12 being wrapped on the workpiece to refurbish the workpiece."
