MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003712 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 18, 2024, for 'automated workpiece notching device.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated workpiece notching device, comprising a platform 1 configured with multiple rod 2 each attached with a suction cup 3 to mount platform 1 on surface, a clamp 4 assemble on a vertical plate 5 assembled on platform 1 for clamping a workpiece placed by a user detected by a weight sensor fabricated on clamp 4, a display panel 6 to input dimension and angle at which user desires to perform notching operation and accordingly a primary motorized sliding unit 7 arranged between plate 5 and clamp 4 positions workpiece at an appropriate angle, a secondary sliding unit 8 arranged on plate 5 for providing a downward movement to a cutter 9 assembled on secondary sliding unit 8 for cuttings workpiece, an imaging unit 10 to determine generation of metal residue on platform 1 and accordingly activates a vacuum based cleaning unit 11 for cleaning residue."
