MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311079858 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 24, 2023, for 'automated wooden workpiece splitting device.'
Inventor(s) include Ashwani K. Sharma; Bhasker Pratap Choudhary; and Navdeep Prashar.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wooden workpiece splitting device, comprising a cuboidal bar developed to be installed on a wall surface and configured with multiple suction cups 1 are attached with bar affixes with surface, plurality of tapered blocks 2 arranged on bar where a wooden workpiece positioned, a motorized sliding unit 3 is integrated between blocks 2 and bar moves blocks 2 over bar, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 installed on bar determines size of workpiece, a touch interactive display panel 5 mapped on bar input details regarding pieces into which user desired to split workpiece, a pair of motorized V-shaped actuator 7 hinged bar moves a cutting blade 6 attached with actuator 7 cut workpiece, a magneto inductive displacement sensor mapped on bar detects sharpness of blade 6, and a motorized grinder 8 arranged on bar via a robotic link grinding blade 6 to sharpen blade 6."
