MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073954 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'automated wooden slab cutting device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur; Amanpreet Kaur; Navpreet Kaur; Pardeep; Nidhi; Om Prakash Mishra; Rajat Khurana; and Bhavey.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wooden slab cutting device, comprising a vertical frame 1 installed on a fixed surface by multiple suction units 2, a display panel 3 arranged on the frame 1 to receive user's input, an imaging unit 4 installed on the frame 1 to determine location of a wooden slab positioned near the frame 1, two motorized grippers 5 arranged on the frame 1 to grip the slab, multiple flaps 6 arranged on the frame 1 by means of two motorized hinges 7 to orient at a required angle with respect to the frame 1 that are accessed by the grippers 5 for accommodating the slab on the flaps 6 two motorized clippers 8 integrated on the flaps 6 to grip the accommodated slab, an extendable bar 9 integrated with a blade 11 arranged on the frame 1 by means of a hydraulic actuator 10 to cut the slab as per the user's specifications."
