MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411005329 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 25, 2024, for 'automated wooden knife manufacturing device.'
Inventor(s) include Kulwant Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wooden knife manufacturing device comprising a housing 1 developed to be positioned on a fixed surface, a touch interactive display panel 2 installed within the housing 1 to input details regarding dimensions of knife, a robotic arm 3 installed within the housing 1 for gripping and positioning a wooden piece stored within a chamber 4 on the platform 5, an AI based imaging unit 6 installed within the housing 1 for capturing multiple images of the platform 5, a cutter 8 installed on ceiling of the housing 1 to perform cutting of the piece to shape the piece as handle of the knife, a motorized drilling unit 9 installed on the lead screw 7 to perform drilling on the handle for engraving design also drills a pair of holes on the handle and the arm 3 used for engaging the blade with the handle to manufactured the knife."
