MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022360 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 22, 2024, for 'automated wood splitting device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wood splitting device, comprising a frame 1 installed on a vertical support, a plate 2 is accessed by a user for accommodating a wooden log which is to be split, a touch interactive display panel 3 enables user for providing input regarding dimensions into which log is to be split, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 determines dimensions of accommodated log, a moisture sensor installed on plate 2 monitors moisture level of accommodated log, a speaker 5 to notify for user regarding detected moisture level of log, a motorized pin joint 8 integrated in between plurality of blades 7 arranged with the top portion of a motorized sliding unit 6 integrated in between plate 2 and frame 1 orients blades 7 in a required manner, sliding unit 6 translates blades 7 in a downward direction, over accommodated log in order to split log as per user-desired pattern."
