MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022646 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 22, 2024, for 'automated wheels maintenance device for bicycles.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wheels maintenance device for bicycles, comprising a U-shaped frame 1 installed on sprocket of rear wheel of a bicycle, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 determines dimensions of rear wheel, a pair of motorized clamping units 3 for acquiring a grip on sprocket such that curved end of frame 1 is positioned in proximity to outer periphery of wheels, an accelerometer determines speed of bicycle, a motorized roller 6 rotate for unwrapping a sheet and followed by energizing of a set of electromagnets to adhere to get adhered to frame 1 at an appropriate length for establishing a cover near wheel to prevent exposure of dust present in surrounding to get deposited on wheel, a dust sensor detects dust, a telescopically operated L-shaped link 4 positions a brush 5 on wheel in order to scrub off dirt."
