MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023459 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 25, 2024, for 'automated wheel scuff maintenance device.'

Inventor(s) include Dilpreet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated wheel scuff maintenance device, comprising a platform 1 to be positioned on a ground surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 installed on platform 1 to determine distance between platform 1 and vehicle, plurality of motorized omnidirectional wheels 3 arranged underneath platform 1 to move platform 1 in proximity to vehicle, an adhesive tape 4 coiled on a roller 5 mounted on platform 1 gripped by a robotic arm 6 arranged on platform 1 to stick tape 4 on tire portion of wheel, a motorized gripper 7 arranged on platform 1 integrated with a tweezer 8 by means of a motorized ball and socket joint 9 for covering wheel's tire with tape 4, a telescopically operated L-shaped bar 10 mounted on platform 1 to extend/retract towards detected dirt/debris on wheel's scuff, a grinding blade 11 to clean scuff, respectively."
